Outdoor Shower

If you like to have fun outdoors, an outdoor shower might be just the ticket to fit your lifestyle.  In addition to the fun, some of the benefits an outdoor shower provides are:

Plants get watered
Your house stays cool and dry (less heat and humidity in the summer)
Dirt and sand stay outside
Your utility bills are lower
Your water bill is lower
Towels dry outside and smell good
There are no shower walls to clean
There is no water to mop up (less mold to contend with in your bathroom)

If your property needs privacy for an outdoor shower, a few privacy fence panels around the shower will suffice.  For water, you can use your outdoor faucet and a hose coiled in the sun to heat the water.  A watering wand with a small valve on it can easily be attached to a tree or post to provide the shower.  Benches, hooks and a boardwalk or some big flat stones to walk on can complete your rustic shower experience.

Our outdoor shower uses rainwater from the cistern that is pumped by a solar powered  RV pump.  We designed in both hot and cold water by running some of the water through a coil of black irrigation pipe and the rest of the water through another hose that is not heated.  The water from the shower just splashes off the rock base and waters nearby plants that are inside and outside the shower.  The small amount of water and soap is easily and safely assimilated into the environment.
