Evergreens will usually not re-sprout after being cut off at the stump and you can remove sprouts from deciduous plants for a season or treat the stump(s) according to label instructions with a very small amount of the proper herbicide to kill the root system. This way of doing things dramatically reduces labor, prevents root damage to desirable plants and reduces landfill waste and hauling.
