A brick oven can cook anything that you can cook in a standard oven. They retain heat so well you can often cook foods or dry herbs the next day with out re-firing the oven.
Fuel for the oven is free; it is fired with scrap wood and branches.
The brick oven doesn’t add anything to your electric bill; the heat is kept outside.
Among the many benefits of a brick oven:
You cook food in an extremely healthy manner;
You get meaningful exercise gathering wood;
The food you prepare tastes fantastic; and,
The cooking mess is kept outside where hosing off the patio or sweeping up is all that’s necessary.
Our brick oven was built in 2003 as part of our outside eating and entertaining area. We have cooked hundreds of meals in it, including roughly 800 thin crust pizzas. The fast cooking time for pizzas, about 4 minutes, makes it a real hit with guests. We will even fire up the oven most evenings during the summer and have a leisurely dinner in courses. Many of the dinners feature roast vegetables straight from the garden and it takes only 10 minutes to prepare … and cook them.
If a brick oven is something you would like to add to your outside lifestyle, let us help you choose the right oven for you, place it in the proper location, and assist you and your mason with assembly and any questions that arise. Fun and low maintenance await. |
